overview | Lindera is a Lindera ag-gregata(Sims)Kosterm of Lindera, a plant of the genus Lauraceae. The dry root tuber, "Compendium of Materia Medica" records that the black medicine has the functions of dispelling cold, nourishing the middle, replenishing qi, and opening depression. It has the effects of increasing gastrointestinal peristalsis, exciting the cerebral cortex, and accelerating blood circulation. It is mainly produced in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and other places. Doctors of all dynasties have evaluated "the quality of those produced in Tiantai, Zhejiang is the best". In the Yuan and Ming Dynasties, it was used as a tribute to the court.
